Easy homemade tortilla chips recipe

Leftover tacos? No problem!

If you’ve recently enjoyed Cantina’s Cali Street Tacos in one of our Street Food recipes, whether crispy cod or slow-cooked beef, and have some leftover tacos to use, or you’re looking for a delicious homemade tortilla chips recipe, you’re in the right place.

Here is a delicious recipe for homemade tortilla chips:

To pan fry:

  • Slice your tortillas into triangle-shaped wedges.
  • Heat a shallow layer of oil in a pan and fry the wedges in batches until golden and crispy.
  • Keep them moving as they cook so they don’t stick together.
  • Remove and pat dry with kitchen paper.
  • While still hot, toss with sea salt and a squeeze of fresh lime juice.

To over-bake or air-fry:

  • Preheat oven or air fryer to 175°C.
  • Slice tortillas into wedges and spread them out on a baking tray (or in the air fryer basket).
  • Drizzle lightly with oil and toss to coat.
  • Bake or air fry until golden and crisp, shaking or flipping halfway through to ensure even cooking.
  • Season straight out the oven with sea salt and lime juice.

Pair with guac, salsa or your favourite dip, crumble over salads for extra crunch or have them just as they are!
